I don’t know about you, but when summer hits, I start craving a little bit of ice cream. It probably doesn’t help that there seem to be more and more gourmet ice cream shops opening up in every neighborhood, adding to the temptation. Thank goodness the lines at those stores snake out the door, or it would be far too easy to give in.

Well, I’m here to the rescue. I have something today that can hopefully give you that sweet, creamy deliciousness you want out of ice-cream, without all the sugar and calories. This is a great recipe for chocolate lovers. You can make this chocolate shake recipe for those times you are craving chocolate ice cream. Just stick it in the freezer for about thirty minutes, and it will be more like soft-serve, or drink it as is, for more of a milk-shake consistency. And this shake is so healthy, that you can even have it for breakfast! Enjoy.

Creamy Chocolate Shake

INGREDIENTS

½ cup crushed ice

1/4 avocado

½ – 1 scoop Whey Cool protein powder or other whey powder– preferably chocolate*

1 – 2 tablespoons cocoa powder**

1 – 2 tablespoons peanut or almond butter

1 – 1½ cups unsweetened almond milk

2 – 3 tsp xylitol or 2 – 3 stevia drops for extra sweetness

Blend and Enjoy!

* The Whey Cool chocolate contains stevia so you may not need to add any extra sweetener like xylitol or stevia drops. However, the vanilla and unflavored/plain Whey Cool do not contain stevia, so you will want to add extra sweetener. I would suggest a tablespoon of xylitol.

** If you use vanilla or plain Whey Cool, then you may wish to add more cocoa powder.
